Excellent Convenience and performance
Pros: cheap - good construction - no paper jams - fast
Cons: no usb cable - strange cartridge Full review I got this printer as a replacement for the ML-1250 I previously owned. The previous printer had some issues with the auto feeder and I needed some more reliability I got it on offer in a Mall. I see that the offer I got is not comparable to those available to US costumers as in Italy is on sale for 70 (around 85$). Package and installation The package is very good. The box is sturdy and the printer itself is suspended between two pieces of foam. Unfortunately here it does not come with a included USB cable. This is a bit of drawback but I had the one from the previous printer and it is working well. I believe that the included toner cartridge is a full one and not a starter type (I mean full toner mileage included). The installation is also easy. The cartridge insertion process is not difficult. On windows XP it consists on linking the cables and starting the printer, the driver comes on a CD. Performance It is blazing fast. Once heated it feeds really 12 pages per minute. There is absolutely no comparison to any inkjet printer. Declared resolution is from 600 to 1200 points per inch. This is realistic as I cannot spot them naked eye. Some people complaints with the poor quality when in draft mode. I have no such complaints, inkjets do much worse in economy, and also this is not a mode intended for presentations. When in normal operations the ink quality is the one you can expect from a laser. So longs it has loaded correctly paper and envelopes. No complaints at all with the feeder. It is a printer designed for home use so the 150 sheets load looks ok to me. Just experienced some lesser problems when printing on non perfectly flat surfaces (Envelopes). The problems are only shading and not anything serious anyway, the ink does not come away. Construction Looks like Samsung made some serious progress here. The problem with the printer I had before was that the dust was falling on the feeder and clogged its operations. Now with the new design the paper is entirely covered and no dust can fall on the feeder. If you ask me this is a clever design and should radically eliminate the paper jams. It is easy to feed envelopes. Unlike the previous models looks like this cartridge wont be so easy to refill. I couldnt spot any cap to remove. Ebay-tailers are anyway claiming that their recharge kits are easy to use I will check this in the future as it looks it can still print thousands of pages :D |
