Pros: Near perfect scans of prints and negatives at a great price.
Cons: It is difficult to achieve a "Perfect" match from original scan to print.
The Bottom Line: This is a great quality scanner for an excellent price. It scans negatives and prints. Its a photographers dream come true!

Pros: Excellent image quality in most situations, compatible with several media, good customer support.
Cons: 3200 spi scans are time-consuming, slide scans show optical limitations.
The Bottom Line: Highly recommended for all general scanning purposes and as an inexpensive alternative to dedicated film scanners.

Pros: Great resolution. Easy for this first-timer to set up and use. Price was right.
Cons: Automatic mode failed to detect some tiny details in slides. Required use of Manual Scan.
The Bottom Line: Buy but beware that Manual Mode may be necessary for finest resolution for SLIDES.

Pros: Powerful, allows scanning of negatives and slides. Came with Photoshop Elements program. Bulk scanning.
Cons: More power than average user needs. For home use, Epson's 2400 is sufficient.
The Bottom Line: The 3170 is a great scanner for the money. Comes with excellent Photoshop Elements software. But for everyday home use, Epson's 2400 is more than sufficient.
