I began my search for my laptop the summer before beginning my first quarter of college. I looked through several different ads and looked on many websites to figure out which laptop I wanted to purchase. After deciding that I wanted to purchase a Dell laptop, I went to the nearest Dell center (which was located in a mall near my house.) The representatives helped me to decide on what programs would be essential for my college courses. The total price for my laptop was 1,738.38 dollars. The reason for this price was because I had added options put on my computer. Most laptops that are sold at Dell start at 999 dollars. The laptop that I purchased was the XPS M1330. The size of my screen is 15 inches, and my computer has 2GB of memory and 120GB on the hard drive. Some of the added options that I added to my laptop were wireless-N Mini card, windows vista premium system, three year limited warranty, three year accidental Damage protection, LoJack Theft Recovery service, and the fingerprint reader.
This product was definitely worth the cost because it is very reliable. By buying a higher priced item I have received a better product. This product will not break down on me and that I can rely on it to get my work done. With the cost comes a warranty, so if the laptop were to break I could get it fixed with no cost.
I bought this product for my first year in college for my research papers and looking information up on the internet. I bought the Dell laptop because I liked the Dell desktop that I have at home. I choose this specific laptop because it was the most recent laptop the dell had made.
What I love about my dell laptop is that I was able to choose the color of it. The options were black, blue, white, and red. I chose red because it was one of the colors of the college that I am attending. The laptop is reliable and is fast to load windows vista and internet websites. The software that is on my laptop has never failed when I needed to access it. The wireless connection is also very strong. I love that it is small and easy to carry around. The software that is installed on the computer is easy to manage, and never causes troubles. If I am not able to find what I am looking for, the start menu offers a search bar to locate items on the computer. The webcam is a great way for me to communicate with friends who I do not get to see on a regular basis.
One bad item about the laptop is the switch on the side of the laptop because it can easily be shut off and cause problems with the wireless internet connection. Another problem with the laptop is sometimes when I go to eject a CD from the CD player the CD player will freeze and the disc can get stuck in the computer for a couple of minutes before eventually ejecting the CD. Another item that could be worked on is the life of the battery. My battery only last two hours before it is completely dead.
Dell could improve their laptop by having a different switch for the wireless internet so it does not turn off so easily. Another thing that could be improved upon is an easier way of being able to eject CD’s automatically. An external CD player would be a great way to prevent CD’s from getting stuck in the laptop. Dell could improve the life of the battery by giving it more power to last for several hours.
The laptop that I was expecting to purchase was a laptop that would be fast to load, not freeze up, and be a computer that I could easily transfer from class to class. It met my expectations by being fast, never freezing up, and by being light weight. It has also helped me to improve my learning skills by being better able to outline my notes.
The laptop is a better product than my desktop because it is portable and it does not freeze up as much as my desktop does. My laptop also is faster to load and the software on my laptop is much easier to manage and to find things on my hard drive than on my desktop.
I would definitely buy another dell product because all the products that I have previously bought from Dell have all been great products. The next item that I would purchase from dell would have to be a printer or an updated version of windows vista. I would recommend Dell products to a friend, because the product is easy to rely on and does not seem to cause trouble with the software.
