watch your files disappear!
Pros: promise of uPnP media server to you Xbox and iTunes server with gigabit ethernet
Cons: Buggier than a Houston swamp! Files/folders disappear until restart Full review I've had this unit for almost a month now and have yet to get it to work correctly. I have a WinXP workgroup in my house and I wanted to share media files (video, audio, etc) without sharing a folder from one of my PCs (the previous way I have done it). I upgraded unit to firmware 1.03. I loaded (2) Seagate 160GB SATA drives I had laying around and formatted them as JBOD to get the full 320GB capacity. The drives will map back to my PC using the D-Link EasyLink software, but the files/folders will intermittantly disappear from the drives. The only recourse is to reboot the DNS-323!The files are still on the drive (the status web page on the DNS-323 shows this) but they cannot be seen/accessed either via network share, FTP, uPnP or iTunes. This looks to be a promising product with lots of features (uPnP, FTP, iTunes server, good web-page interface, USB printer support) but needs to get more bugs worked out before it is usable. D-Link tech support is miserable - not responding in a timely manner and when they do it is stock answers and bad english. |
