Cons: fragile. Some could think that it's too small.
The bottom line: Great mp3 player for the price.
I bought my first ipod a week ago. The 3rd generation iPod nano. I was so surprised at the size of it. It is so small and thin that it can almost fit in your wallet. Anyway, had to purchase a silicone skin to protect it as it seems very fragile due to the diminutive size. That is also a great advantage. I was also surprised at how long that thing goes on one charge. The control dials are very easy to use and not to small for someone with medium-large hands. I am 6' tall and wear a med-large cadet golf glove. The purchase price of $149 was too good to pass up. I finally had to have one of these. I've downloaded about 30 songs so far and have had no problems at all with the iTunes website. Free songs redeemed by code are also very easy to do. The earbuds are functional, but for in house listening you will need to get some sort of speaker system. I bought the Bose Portable Sound Dock (see my review of that). I wish it came with some more instructions instead of me having to fumble through the dial control and figuring everything out on my own. Instructions on downloading and such would have been nice for a first time user. However, it is a very intuitive device and learning it's functions is just a matter of time. Overall, I think that buying a third generation product is not only safe, but smart. All of the bugs have been worked out and improvements have been made. To be able to hold 1000 songs in a credit card sized device is unfathomable for me. Technology is great and so is this ipod.
